The authors present the results of geological and geophysical studies and the analysis of well data obtained in the south-western part of the Yevlakh-Agdzhabadi trough. Oil and gas occurrence in Mesozoic deposits is investigated in the south-western part of the Yevlakh-Agdzhabadi trough (Azerbaijan). The studies were aimed at identification of promising zones for further investigations and exploration on the basis of geological and geophysical data and structural features of the region. Geological and geophysical data, partially taken from the published sources, archival materials, and SOCAR Company field data, including seismic survey results, drilling data, and analysis of deep sections were used to investigate the hydrocarbon potential of the Mesozoic deposits in the Yevlakh-Agdzhabadi trough. Based on the results of the geological and geophysical data analysis, it is concluded that the Mesozoic deposits are promising targets for oil and gas exploration in the Yevlakh-Agdzhabadi trough, particularly on the south-western flank of the basin, where potential hydrocarbon traps have been identified. Further research and drilling are required to refine the understanding of the hydrocarbon potential and geological features of the Mesozoic deposits, given the presence of under-assessed reserves and the complicated tectonic setting of the area.
