Aims and Scope 

Mission of “Geologiya Nefti i Gaza” (“Russian Oil and Gas Geology”): publishing new scientific findings and practical results of fundamental investigations and applied research on topical problems of oil and gas geology, and extending information sharing between petroleum geologists of various agencies and authorities — the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, Rosnedra, the Russian Academy of Sciences, geological universities and faculties, subsoil user and service companies, and other Russian and foreign organizations of other forms of ownership.

Objectives of the journal: collection, systematization, and publishing of the up-to-date materials covering all the stages of petroleum exploration — theoretical works, regional exploration activities and also prospecting affairs, and to a limited extent — oil and gas field operation issues; publishing special issues devoted to the major problems of fundamental investigations in the following areas: prediction of oil and gas occurrence with substantiation of new trends in oil and gas exploration, stratigraphy, lithofacies zoning and sedimentology modelling of petroleum paleobasins, tectonic zoning, updating of quantitative and geoeconomic assessment of resource potential, methodological aspects of geological, geophysical, and geochemical works; systematization and publishing the reasonable papers on new geological concepts and methodologies, unconventional hydrocarbon sources and difficult-to-recover hydrocarbon resources, which cover not only Russian, but also foreign achievements, especially in the cases where it is interesting to adopt the successful innovations; assistance in promotion of investigations of topical interest, and publishing papers of young talented authors.

Publication in “Geologiya Nefti I Gaza” (“Russian Oil And Gas Geology”) is free of charge for all the authors. The Journal doesn’t have any Arcticle processing charges. The Journal doesn’t have any Article submission charges.

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

a. Authors retain copyright and grant the Journal right of first publication, with the work 12 months after publication simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work’s authorship and initial publication in this journal.
b. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
Submission of an article by the author implies that they agree for it to be used by the Publisher on the above conditions and to be included in the RSCI system. It also implicates that the author is aware of the terms of its use.
The editorial board posts the full text of the article in an open access format at Journal website www.oilandgasgeology.ru 12 months after publication.

Preprint and postprint Policy

As part of submission process, authors are required to confirm that the submission has not been previously published, nor has been submitted. After a manuscript has been published in “Russian Oil and gas geology” we suggest that the link to the article on journal’s website is used when the article is shared on personal or public websites.
When referring to an article published in the “Geologiya Nefti I Gaza” (“Russian Oil And Gas Geology”), the publisher asks to place the article DOI listed on the Journal’s website. Please note, the correct writing of the Journal in References is Geologiya nefti i gaza.
