New Zaozyornaya-1 stratigraphic well is drilled in the north-eastern part of the Karabashsky zone. The well encountered pre-Jurassic and Jurassic-Cretaceous sedimentary sequences. In the studied well column, oil source rocks are identified in the Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous deposits. The combination of pyrolysis data and maturity indices of saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons demonstrates an increase in Organic Matter maturity from ПК3 in the Cherkashinsky Fm to МК2 in the Tyumen Fm. The results of studies allow concluding that the sapropelic OM of the Bazhenov Fm found in the first half of the main oil generation zone have the best generation characteristics. The Cherkashinsky deposits were not involved in oil and gas generation processes because of their low generation potential and low degree of OM maturity. The results of the advanced geochemical studies allowed revealing the genetic association of oil obtained from the abnormal Bazhenov section after hydraulic fracturing with the immediately underlying source interval of the Bazhenov deposits.
