A key challenge in regional geological exploration is the scarcity of geological and geophysical information. Geological model is based primarily on a sparse network of 2D seismic profiles and data of potential-field methods. In this situation, to verify and refine the geological section model and fill it with parameters, it is important to make maximum use of the geological exploration tools available in the regional stage. One of these tools is seismic studies in stratigraphic well. The efficiency of this tool depends on the correct combination of survey system design, data processing with true amplitude preservation, and geological interpretation together with well log and seismic data. The author presents the proprietary methodology of creating thin-bedded elastic model of geological section prior to building an exploratory well and carrying out geophysical studies (well logging) in it. The availability of such a model makes it possible to reasonably design seismic study in a well, state requirements for data processing and interpretation, and ultimately ensure the quality and reliability of results of near-wellbore space investigations using seismic well logging methods. This methodology, from the stage of an a-priori thin-bedded model building up to obtaining 3D distribution of seismic velocities in near-wellbore space, is discussed in the paper by the example of the works in the Zaozyornaya-1 well.
